Who this treatment is for
This facial is for oily and combination skin that quickly starts to shine, where the pores become congested and blackheads and the odd breakout appear. What skin like this usually needs is not a single intensive treatment but consistent, gentle care: thorough cleansing, calming, and the right products at home.
Blemish-prone skin is often sensitive too, so we adapt every step to its condition on the day: if the skin is irritated, we work more gently, and we may leave some steps out altogether. Your whole appointment is devoted to you and your skin.
When to see a dermatologist first
If there are many breakouts, or they are inflamed, deep or painful, or leave small scars, we recommend seeing a dermatologist first. In that case, cosmetic care can complement a dermatologist’s advice, but it does not replace it.
If you are taking acne medication, please be sure to tell us before the treatment. Please also tell us if you are pregnant or have a skin condition – together we will decide whether the treatment is right for you.
How the treatment works
- We remove your make-up.
- We exfoliate with a gommage – a gentle exfoliant that lifts away flakes of dead skin and absorbs excess oil.
- We apply a live algae mask, the same one we use in the skin detox facial: it opens the pores and softens what is inside them.
- We carefully clear the pores.
- We apply an Alpha Beta Tomato peel with hydroxy acids – it helps remove dead skin cells and even out the texture and tone of the skin.
- We go over the skin with the High Frequency 2000, a high-frequency (D’Arsonval) device. High-frequency current is a classic cosmetology technique for oily, acne-prone skin.
- We finish with a soothing mask for oily skin.
At the end of your visit, we tell you what we noticed and advise you on how to care for your skin until next time.
Aftercare
For the first day, go without make-up, do not touch your face with your hands, and avoid saunas, swimming pools and strenuous exercise. If the odd red spot appears after the cleanse, do not squeeze it – it usually settles quickly. And remember your sun protection every day.
Home care
For blemish-prone skin, home care makes a great deal of difference. After your visit, we advise you on which cleanser and products to choose so that your skin is not over-dried. Consistency matters more here than intensity: gentle daily care and regular visits.
How many treatments you will need, and how often, depends on your skin – we will tell you after your first treatment.
