Who an acid cleansing facial suits
Clients choose this cleanse when they would rather not, or cannot, have manual extractions, but would still like clean, fresh skin. It suits oily and combination skin with small blackheads and a shiny T-zone, as well as skin with an uneven texture, and skin that looks dull and tired.
Acid preparations loosen the bonds between the dead cells of the surface layer and soften what is inside the pores. In this way, impurities, dead cells and excess oil come away from the pores without any squeezing. Regular cleansing helps keep the skin in balance.
If there are many deep blackheads, a deep-cleansing or combined cleansing facial will be more effective. Acids do not always suit very sensitive skin that reddens easily – in that case, we will suggest something gentler, such as an ultrasonic cleansing facial.
How the treatment works
- We remove make-up and impurities, and prepare the skin.
- We apply an acid preparation chosen for your skin type and its condition.
- We watch how your skin responds and remove the preparation at the right moment.
- We restore the natural acid–alkaline balance (pH) of the skin’s surface.
- We apply a mask chosen for what your skin needs.
- To finish, we apply a cream with sun protection.
The treatment takes about an hour. At the end, we tell you what we noticed and advise you on how to care for your skin at home.
If you are pregnant, taking any medication or have a skin condition, please tell us before the treatment – together we will decide whether it is right for you.
A cleanse is not a peel
For the cleanse, we use gentle acid preparations: their purpose is clean pores and a renewed skin surface. Stronger acid peels work more deeply and are intended for skin tone and texture. If you would like not only to cleanse your skin but also to renew it, the Hollywood Facial programmes, which combine three different peels, are also worth considering.
Aftercare
For a few days, your skin may be more sensitive. Until it settles, do not use scrubs or products containing acids or retinoids, and avoid saunas and direct sun. Sun protection is especially important after an acid cleanse – use it every day.
How often to repeat the cleanse depends on your skin – we will advise after your first treatment.
