The dome, the light and the oxygen
The treatment uses a device with a clear dome. You lie on the treatment couch, and the dome covers your head without touching your face. Inside the dome, LED light glows, while the device feeds oxygen of up to 90% purity into it as a separate stream. In this way the light and the oxygen reach your skin at the same time.
That is why this is not an LED mask of the kind often used at home. We set the colour of the light and the amount of oxygen for your skin, and beforehand we cleanse the skin and apply a mask chosen for it.
The colours of light
LED light therapy aims to turn the energy of light into energy for the skin’s cells. The intention is to encourage circulation and collagen production, so that the skin looks livelier and firmer. Light of different wavelengths acts on the skin in different ways, so we choose the colour according to what your skin needs most:
- Red (625–700 nm) – we most often choose it for more mature skin that is losing firmness.
- Green (495–570 nm) – when you would like a more even skin tone.
- Blue (440–500 nm) – for oily and combination skin.
- Yellow (570–600 nm) – for sensitive skin that is prone to redness.
- Violet / pink (400–420 nm) – combines the qualities of red and blue light; it suits oilier skin with an uneven texture.
- Light blue (500–520 nm) – for tired, dull, greyish skin.
- White (400–700 nm) – the full spectrum of visible light, to support the overall condition of the skin.
The soft coloured light and the fresh stream of oxygen make the treatment calm and relaxing – it is also a time to rest.
How the treatment works
Before every treatment we talk and look at your skin – and choose the mask, the colour of the light and the amount of oxygen accordingly.
- We remove make-up and impurities.
- We apply a mask chosen for what your skin needs.
- For 20 minutes, beneath the dome, LED light and a stream of oxygen work on your skin.
- We finish with a face cream.
At the end of the treatment we advise you on how to care for your skin at home. Afterwards you can usually go straight back to your day.
If you are pregnant, taking any medication (especially medication that makes you more sensitive to light), have a skin condition or find bright light unpleasant, please tell us before the treatment – together we will decide whether it is right for you.
Who it suits
We often choose this treatment when the skin looks tired and greyish, or lacks vitality or firmness. It is also a good choice on days when there is no time for a longer treatment but you would still like to give some attention to your skin and to yourself.
If your skin needs a thorough cleanse above all, a deep-cleansing facial will suit it better; if it needs moisture and glow, the oxygen infusion facial. Oxygen and LED light therapy is also part of the longer Hydra Facial programmes, where it takes place while the mask is on.
In 2025 Žana completed individual practical training for facial treatments; its programme included both LED photon light therapy and oxygen therapy.
