How sonophoresis works
Sonophoresis is a device-based cosmetology method in which ultrasound works together with a skincare product: a gel, serum, balm or ampoule. The ultrasonic vibrations gently massage the tissues, improve microcirculation and make the skin more permeable. As a result, small-molecule active ingredients penetrate more deeply than when a product is simply applied.
We choose the product for what your skin needs today: hydration, nourishment or tone.
Who sonophoresis suits
We offer sonophoresis for:
- dry, dehydrated skin;
- tired skin that is losing firmness;
- skin with fine lines;
- skin whose pores look enlarged.
Sonophoresis combines well with an ultrasonic cleanse, microdermabrasion and a peel, so it often becomes part of a longer programme.
If you are pregnant, taking any medication or have a skin condition, please tell us before the treatment – together we will decide whether it is right for you.
How the treatment works
- We remove your make-up and gently exfoliate the skin.
- We apply the chosen product to the skin – a serum, a gel or the contents of an ampoule.
- We glide the ultrasonic tip slowly over your face: the vibrations help the product penetrate.
- We give you a facial massage.
- To finish, we apply a mask suited to what your skin needs.
The main programme takes about an hour.
Programmes
Sonophoresis, exfoliation, massage and mask – the main programme. You can also book it on Treatwell (listed there as Ultragarso terapija).
With microdermabrasion – before sonophoresis, the skin is also resurfaced. With the dead cells removed, it becomes smoother and takes up active ingredients more readily.
With detox and ultrasonic cleanse – for congested, tired skin: first the pores are cleared, and at the end a cream mask is applied.
Extended programme – exfoliation, detox, an ultrasonic cleanse, sonophoresis, massage and a concentrated rejuvenating mask.
Aftercare
Sonophoresis does not break the skin, so you can go straight back to your day. On the first evening, it is best to go without make-up and let the products soak in undisturbed. If your programme included a cleanse or microdermabrasion, avoid saunas and swimming pools on the first day, and remember to use sun protection for a few days.
How often
That depends on the condition of your skin and on your goal. We will advise after your first treatment. Between treatments, home care does most of the work, so after every visit we advise you on which products suit your skin.
