What is a layered facial?
For some skin, one method alone is not enough. A layered facial combines several methods in one visit: step by step, we cleanse the skin, renew it, enrich it with active ingredients and tone it.
We build the treatment from these methods:
- exfoliation;
- detox – cleansing the pores;
- facial cleansing by hand;
- ultrasonic cleansing;
- sonophoresis – active ingredients infused with ultrasound;
- microdermabrasion;
- a hands-on toning massage;
- a mask.
From these we choose the ones your skin needs today, which is why two layered facials are rarely the same. The steps follow a considered order: each one prepares the skin for the next. After cleansing and microdermabrasion, for example, the skin takes up the active ingredients infused by sonophoresis more readily.
Who it suits
A layered facial is often chosen by clients whose skin needs several things at once – cleansing, hydration and firmness. It also suits you if you would rather have one longer visit than several shorter ones.
If one method is enough for your skin, you can choose it on its own. And if you would like a longer plan or microneedling, take a look at our bespoke programmes.
If you are pregnant, taking any medication or have a skin condition, please tell us before the treatment – together we will decide whether it is right for you.
How the treatment works
- We talk and look at your skin – this decides which methods we combine.
- We remove your make-up and exfoliate the skin.
- We cleanse the pores – by hand, with ultrasound or both.
- Depending on what your skin needs – microdermabrasion, sonophoresis or both.
- We give you a toning massage.
- To finish – a mask chosen for your skin.
The treatment takes from an hour and a half to two hours. At the end, we explain what we did and why, and advise you on how to care for your skin at home.
Aftercare
As the treatment usually includes cleansing, go without make-up for the first day and avoid saunas, swimming pools and strenuous exercise. For a few days, remember your sun protection. Any slight redness usually settles quickly.
How often
That depends on your skin and on the methods we combined. We will advise after your first treatment.
