Resurfacing with microcrystals
We resurface the skin with fine aluminium oxide microcrystals, using suction at the same time. The crystals are gentle and carefully lift away dead cells from the surface layer – the epidermis – so crystal microdermabrasion suits even sensitive skin. The suction also gently massages the skin and encourages lymph flow.
With the dead cells removed, the skin absorbs active ingredients more readily, which is why we always finish microdermabrasion with a mask.
Who microdermabrasion suits
It is intended for renewing the skin and for the care of mature skin. Microdermabrasion is often chosen by clients whose skin:
- has an uneven texture and enlarged pores;
- has fine lines;
- has small dark spots or marks left by breakouts;
- looks tired, dull and greyish.
If congested pores are your main concern, it is worth starting with a deep-cleansing facial.
If you are pregnant, taking any medication or have a skin condition, please tell us before the treatment – together we will decide whether it is right for you.
How the treatment works
- We remove your make-up.
- In the longer programmes – exfoliation, detox and a facial cleanse. Exfoliation smooths the skin: with a device, we gently lift away dead cells and impurities.
- Crystal microdermabrasion.
- A massage of the face, neck and décolletage, if your skin needs it.
- To finish – a mask chosen for the programme and for what your skin needs.
Programmes
The programmes differ in two ways: whether the skin is also given a detox and a cleanse before resurfacing, and which mask the treatment finishes with.
- With a cream mask – the simplest programme: microdermabrasion, massage and a cream mask.
- With a CO₂ mask or a mask chosen for your skin’s needs – the CO₂ gel mask refreshes and tones; otherwise we choose a mask for your skin’s individual needs, depending on its condition.
- With a premium mask – we choose the mask from a wider selection: AquaLift, peptide, collagen or hyaluronic acid, and in the programme with a cleanse, L-ascorbic acid (vitamin C) as well.
Any programme can be extended with a detox and a facial cleanse. There are two kinds of detox – we choose the one that suits your skin.
Aftercare
After resurfacing, the skin is more sensitive to the sun, so use sun protection for a few days and avoid sunbathing. Go without make-up for the first day, and avoid saunas and swimming pools. Any slight redness usually settles within a few hours.
How often
That depends on the condition of your skin. We will advise after your first treatment.
