Who microneedling suits
We suggest microneedling when you are concerned about:
- uneven skin texture and enlarged pores;
- fine lines, and skin that has lost its firmness and tone;
- uneven skin tone, pigmentation, sun-exposed skin;
- skin left uneven by breakouts.
The treatment suits many different skin types. It can be done on the face, neck and décolletage.
Before your first treatment, we talk with you and look at your skin. If what it needs first is a thorough cleanse, it is worth starting with a deep-cleansing facial. If you would like to renew your skin without a device, ask about SQT spicules. We also often include microneedling in our bespoke programmes, where we combine it with other treatments – for example, with an oxygen facial.
How the treatment works
- We cleanse the skin thoroughly and apply a numbing cream.
- We choose the concentrate for what your skin needs – for example, for acne-prone skin, for fine lines or for maturing skin.
- With a microneedling pen we work over the skin in several directions, delivering the concentrate at the same time. We set the depth of the needles for your skin and for each area, but they work only in the upper layers – no deeper than 0.25 mm.
- To finish, we calm the skin with special products so that any redness and sensitivity pass more quickly.
The principle of the treatment is simple: the skin responds to the micro-channels by activating its natural renewal processes, and through the same channels the active ingredients reach the deeper layers of the skin.
Aftercare
Your skin may be slightly red or more sensitive – this passes quickly. For the first 24 hours, go without make-up and avoid saunas, swimming pools and strenuous exercise. For a few days, take particular care to protect your skin from the sun, and use the products we recommend.
The skin renews itself gradually, so any changes are best judged not the next day but after a few weeks.
A course of treatments
We usually recommend a course of 2–3 treatments. We set the intervals between them according to the condition of your skin – we will talk about this after your first visit.
When we do not perform this treatment
- During pregnancy and breastfeeding.
- If you have a blood-clotting disorder or take blood-thinning medication.
- If you have a serious systemic illness.
- If there is active inflammation of the skin.
If you are taking any other medication or have a skin condition, please tell us before the treatment – together we will decide whether it is right for you.
